Brother Lawrence D'Souza is a lay brother and social worker in  Mangalore India,Though he served humbly as a electrician, cook and sandal repairer, he became famous for the classic Christian text The Practice of the Presence of God, which teaches how to maintain continuous, loving communion with God during everyday, mundane tasks.

As we know the mission spirit of a Catholic layman is rooted in their baptismal call to be "salt of the earth" and "light of the world". The Holy Spirit gave him the desire to bring God’s love to others in the form of his presence within him. As he began to focus on loving his siblings in Christ, his natural shyness to share his faith slowly dissipated. He conversations with others before that desire overwhelmed him were superficial, shallow, and often self-serving. Gradually, He discovered how to share his big God-moments and little miracles effectively one-on-one, then in a small circle of friends, and finally on stage in front of an audience of strangers.
